Kitchen/Living Room Progress...ready for the lights to go in and new Ikea TV unit

Last time I wrote about our kitchen I think it was "Kitchen Eve" which you can read more about here.

Well the kitchen has gone in and we are really happy with it but have been at a bit of a standstill waiting for the lights to be put in before we can paint or do anything else.

Goodbye kitchen fluro light...

Farewell ugly cream vertical blind...I will not miss you!!

Hello new Ikea TV Unit, you will look so much more at home once the walls are painted and you are nicely dressed!!

Our electrician is coming tomorrow so it will be all systems go once he has the lights in...
VERY EXCITED!!

"Before" House Tour - The adventure starts here...

Nearly three years ago, my husband and I purchased our modest three bedroom, one bathroom 1980's brick home on a 600m2 suburban block. We moved in knowing that we would like to make changes over time with the view to either sell (hopefully making a profit) or rent out as an investment property. Our dream is to own a small country property (not too far from where we live now to remain close to work, family and city conveniences) but to have our own private piece of tree filled paradise...and perhaps a cow or three.
We are avid DIYers which is handy when we are working on a tight budget. I have always been interested in interior design so I am enjoying the learning experience.
Although we have started making some changes I thought I would share the house as it was in the beginning so I am reminded of just how far we've come, because sometimes it feels like we are getting nowhere fast!
So here is a tour of my house "before" and I look forward to sharing the home "after" and my inspiration along the way...

Kitchen Update...

I think the last time I mentioned our renovations we were knocking out the wall between the kitchen and family room...

Kitchen "before"

Kitchen "before"

Well now the wall is completely gone...

And as a matter of fact, the kitchen is now also completely gone...

Once the kitchen was cleared out our friend, who also happens to be an electrician (lucky for us!) came and wired everything up...

We also closed in the window on the eastern side to make room for more cupboard space...

And yesterday we got a very exciting delivery...our new kitchen!!!  Yippee!!!

It looks like a bit of a puzzle at the moment but tomorrow is the day that all the pieces will be put together... not by us, mind you coz that would not go well!! But luckily, another friend of ours is a cabinet maker so he has also kindly helped us out...

Sooooooooo EXCITED!!

This is better than Christmas Eve...this is Kitchen Eve!!!!
